Unknown/used products in buckets can cause lots of problems just like unmarked jugs of chemical that someone might think is crop oil when it's not. My 6620 had reddish colored oil in hydrostat when I got it but I have been using low vis Hy guard every since. ![]() Not sure about the earlier 303 type hydraulic oil but that would have been in steel buckets I imagine.ĭefinitely think it could by ATF or some other low vis hydrostatic fluid. Yep never remember Hy guard or low viscosity Hy guard being reddish in color for as long as I can remember. I agree with the other replies, you may have gotten some older low visc hydrostatic fluid, or ATF, or diesel fuel contamination ? I have been around it most of my life ( 52 ) and dont remember it ever being or having a red tint, normally golden pale amber color. (Dad had an unopened one gallon jug of that, also. The old Low-Viscosity oil, for the combine, was red tinted. Transferred the oil, into another clean bucket, and their was a lot of "solids" in the bottom, of that yellow bucket.
